Wyeth

I don't know where you stand on the debate about illustrator vs. artist but I am here to tell you I am a big fan of Andrew Wyeth's style. I think his paintings are wonderful and his stark landscapes and interiors suit me. They exude dignity. JMB told me that he used to see him lunching alone, in an inn at Chadds Ford which he used to visit for lunch back in the seventies. Always in rumpled clothing, always alone. What a nice memory to have.

Surely you know that Andrew's sister was artist Henrietta Wyeth Hurd, whose husband was artist Peter Hurd, a native New Mexican. They had a home in the Hondo Valley between Roswell and Ruidoso, and his paintings of that valley are my favorite representations of that area.

I only know this from reading a N.C. Wyeth bio--I had no idea before that.
Those are great paintings

The family (of Michael Hurd, I think) used to run a B&B with a gallery in Hondo Valley. Maybe they still do. I've always meant to stay there.
