Raymond Chandler biography I am reading now
Many of you have heard this story already, but my girl thinks this is the stuff a blog is MEANT FOR. Actually what she said was that if I label it right, my rating will soar.
Four weeks ago I went out to run afternoon errands, first going to the bank, then to the grocery. After parking I made two five minute calls on my mobile, hung up, went into the store, got my groceries (about $80 worth) and drove home.
Thirty minutes after I arrived home, the phone rang. It was a police investigator. The following conversation ensued:
PoPo: Is this Mrs. Mony B_?
Mony: Yes?
P: Mrs. B_, this is Investigator _ with Metro. I need to ask you some questions related to a complaint that concerns your vehicle. Some of the questions may sound strange to you but I hope you will answer candidly.
M: Okay, but which vehicle?
(She gave me my tag number).
P: What was the nature of your business on Bandywood Drive this afternoon?
M: Well, I went to get groceries.
P: And were you parked in the garage of the store, talking on your cell phone?
M: Yes, I called my son in Florida and talked for about five minutes. I then talked with my sister in Florida for about five minutes. I don't like to talk on my mobile while driving. I then went into the store, got my groceries and came home.
P: Mrs. B_, what is your occupation?
M: I am self-employed (okay, I stretched it a bit).
P: Mrs. B_, are you a Private Investigator?
M: (quite calm) No, ma'am I am not.
P: Okay, Mrs. B_, we are finished now. I can't tell you the nature of the complaint against you but I can tell you it involves a young woman who thought you were following her. That is all the questions I have for you. Thanks for your time, and thank you for not driving while talking on your cell phone.
M: Sounds like she might be in the middle of a bad divorce with a restraining order, or something like that. (Right!) I hope her situation is resolved soon. Goodbye.
I shit you not.
Mony, looking over her shoulder and hoping for soaring ratings, whatever that means.
