Bag big hit in Austin!

After the tenth compliment, I knew she had to begin marketing them. After the twentieth, I began to ask what it was that people liked. Few knew that this bag is handknit by my daughter, that the process is called fulling, or felting and that the bag is incredibly lightweight, strong, and water-resistant. Some like the shape, some love the color, others like the size (I used it to stow purchases and many of the comments were from clerks). It started when I carried it exclusively everywhere in Austin, and has continued in Nashville. The most frequent comment was that they thought I had a bag made of grass! So Emily, my talented grad student daughter at FSU will be making the bags to order. We're still looking for a price point, and jk suggested $80. We think it is a fair price, but will see how it sells. Custom orders are a possibility (Emily designed this) and she will work with you on colors. Check out the cool snap, which is a feature I love. I am now working on a marketing strategy for my return to Austin in three weeks; suggestions are welcome!

I love it as well. Tell Em to check out etsy and see what others who are felting are getting.

well, Em is totally overwhelmed by orders from the immediate family
however, she quickly worked up two prototypes for me to carry to Austin on Wednesday, in case someone wants to plunk down $75 on the spot
I want to photograph them and make a card to hand out to admirers, so I need as many prototypes as I can get her to make
probably won't get the card made by the time I travel, though
She thinks she has enough orders to get her through the summer...

I am heading down to work the box office at Old Settlers Music Festival for Jean Spivey. Ronda is my sidekick.
